Human Evolution Clicker 1.9.30

I was always amused while playing those "evolution" games. The originals were indeed made as jokes. What? A sentient alpaca absorbs its brethren only to slowly become an abomination? Is that evolution? I think not. But what caught my attention when looking at Human Evolution was the common sense theme (although some might disagree) and the fact that it reminded me of my all-time favorite failed game, Spore.

Human Evolution is nothing like Spore, of course. The game is a long-haul clicker, in which you get a slow influx of DNA. Combining two identical things will result in a more advanced, better thing. Of course, new species will appear at a slower and slower pace, since you need more and more DNA to create a 'mate' for your advanced species to discover the next one.

However, existing specimens are not entirely useless. They produce coins, with which you upgrade certain aspects, such as the spawning cool-down, the spawned life-form, and even on bringing in specific life forms directly.

The game will eventually zoom out of the water environment when you evolve a walking fish. From then on you'll advance through two more stages, in which you will also get to explore a couple of exoplanets and eventually evolve into a singularity.

Human Evolution would be a decent time waster if it weren't for its atrociously invasive ads. The app displays full-screen and animated ads very often, and for no in-game reward. You will get an offer to disable them eventually, but I don't like paying just so that the app stops harassing my eyes.

Final Thoughts

Human Evolution has the merit of being the only "evolution" game that actually deals with the subject matter. The gameplay is very abstracted and totally silly, but as a time waster, you can easily give it a go. Just turn off your data connection if you want to tap away undisturbed for a few minutes each day, and you'll be fine.
